Terry Towels - Rough surface / haed finish

Postby suds-n-blood » Tue Jul 24, 2012 2:47 pm

Is anyone experiencing a hard or rough surface feel on their terry towels ofter drying? In checking with the chemical supplier, he thinks the cause could come from improper rinsing and leaving too many solids in the fabric. Normal amounts of softener are being injected for the terry items.
What are your thoughts and experience on this.

Drying too long, or too hot, or too large of loads for the dryers.

In additional discussion on this, some of the chemical community have said that if residual chemistry and solids are not rinsed out effectively, the result can be those soilds will imbed themselves in the fabric and when dried will harden to feel of the terry items.

Anyone else have feelings on this?

I will vote with Ironman on the dryer conditions or procedures.
If the dryers are set up rite you will not even need fabric softener to get soft Terry.
If any material shows redeposition check over everything starting at square 1.

I agree with iron man, generally your washer chemicals are monitored by your supplier. If you over dry you will get rough terry, try shortening the dry time.
