Sylon bushing question

Postby da_bull » Wed Sep 06, 2017 5:18 am

I have a Sylon (alongside 2 super sylons). The main sprocket that drives the 8 rolls has started to squeal a little over the last few months. I did away with the automatic oiler a while back and re-plumbed for a grease fitting as per Talley's recommendation. This works great on our super sylons, (and we do grease it 3 times per week). but either the grease is dumping out somewhere else, or the bushing on the sprocket is completely toast. Even when it is full of grease, you can place you hand on the vertical line that I installed for the grease to travel down and you can feel the coarseness in the bushing. How hard of a job is this to replace? It looks like its a shaft pressed into the frame. I am suspecting the shaft is worn. This is one of the few things I have not had a chance to play with yet. Without checking the nameplate, I believe it was a 1994 rebuild. Thanks in advance...
