building a successful client base

Postby sexysamantha » Wed May 19, 2010 5:02 pm

Hi guys,

I've been browsing through the forum for a while now and have found lots of useful information and think now is a good time to introduce myself...

Hi i'm sam i run a commercial laundry service providing a service to catering companys, hotels and many other orgs...... mainly providing a business to business service...

the market seems to be cornered by bigger companies such as sunlight and white night...

So i thought it would be beneficial for me and the rest of the community to discuss and share ideas on building and maintaining a client base.....

Is there any market segment somebody can suggest to target?

How do you go about finding new customers?

Any feedback is appreciated

hI Sam
I started in the laundry busniess a long time ago in a laundry doing 9million # yearly. One of the owners was a sales person and the other a cpa who was very detail orientated. Our table napkins were folded twice and pressed. He wanted me to design a steam press to accomplish this after being run thru an iron first. He then wanted the table cloths ,bed sheets and other linen done the same way. It was all details. Once we obtained a client, it was very difficult for another company to come in and underbid us. Again it was all details which he insisted upon what ever it took.

The laundry industry has many different sectors that you can target such as Health Care, Hospitality, Linen Rental, Facility Services, and Dry Cleaning. Regardless of the sector that you target you must create an atmosphere of excellent internal service. If your corporate culture is not based on excellent internal service it will be difficult to provide excellent external service.

As I stated in my introduction, I do not personally own a laundromat or dry cleaning business but for the sake of networking as an energy broker I have been on various laundry forums and blogs. I have come across some great posts and ideas on various websites. From one of the other forums I have been frequenting:

"Guys, just stumbled upon a site that someof you that cater to college students might like. It is aroundcampus.com You can post coupons at the site. I have not used it yet, but since a competitor of mine (another business) is using it, I will probably give it a try.

What other services such as this do you guys use? I would like to hear so I can put together a list of internet marketing avenues.

So far:

Facebook
Yelp
FourSquare
AroundCampus
Merchant Circle"
